Examination of the lost judgment – resolve cases and explode the faces
Examination of the lost judgment
The heart of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is palpable in each of his games. Combining humor, drama, action and strange, society has carved out a place in the Action-RPG genre that has found an echo with players around the world. A spin-off and a suite, Lost Judgment explores a new field for franchise, exploring controversial subjects that push the limits of narrative video games.
Unlucky, the ex-lawyer who has become a detective, Takayuki Yagami, takes all the work he can get. When a simple job falls at his feet, he jumps at the opportunity. Responsible for investigating intimidation incidents in Seiro High, Takayuki infiltrates the school to discover a larger and sinister mystery linked to a case of sexual harassment and very publicized murder.
With school as a focal point, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has skillfully designed a story that explores the many aspects of education. Their direct approach to approaching difficult subjects is laudable. Themes such as depression, abuse and oppression are explored in a sensitive way, helping to tell a stimulating and sometimes uncomfortable story. By changing the tone, Lost Judgment contrasts the drama with hilarious segments that place Takayuki in delicate situations. Whether as an adviser to the Mystery Club, helping to solve small school problems or by teaching a routine at a dance lesson before a big competition, you will be part of the life of Seiro High. Similar to its predecessors, the game is heavy in kinematics. Although this can dissuade some, it helps keep history in the foreground. The scenes are wonderfully structured, dripping in style, helping to create significant revelations and twists and turns similar to modern criminal dramas.
Although several games have put you in the shoes of a detective, few could do it as well as Lost Judgment. Particular games such as the Sherlock Holmes series include better investigation mechanisms, however, Lost Judgment offers a complete package to create a captivating police drama that will keep you in suspense throughout. As a detective, you will climb into the environment, track the suspects and sneak in dangerous areas looking for clues to help you solve the case. Unfortunately, these are not dynamic and only occur in scripted linear segments which are integrated into the missions. Extravagant side suitcases can also be found in the open world. Hearing conversations will give you clues to potential crimes in the region. With this information, you can access an application on your phone to locate the author of the offense. Armed with a noise amplifier, a signal detector, a detective dog and more, you will find yourself in a range of strange and eccentric situations that will leave you hysterical.
While Yakuza: Like A Dragon has changed the series in a new direction, focusing on turn-based action, Lost Judgment refined the combat system that started in Yakuza Zero. The return is the Crane style, a rapid and elegant combat form which is perfect for facing several enemies at the same time. In front of this, the fierce tiger style and with a strong impact is the most effective in individual meetings. The novelty of the series is the elegant Snake style, which will allow you to graciously counter enemies with speed and precision by creating captivating sequences which could have been drawn directly from a film by John Woo. Special attacks ex add to the cinematographic sensation. Similar to the Yakuza heat system, the construction of the gauge will allow you to trigger a burst of strikes or a singular special movement crushing the bones. Takayuki Yagami can also use the environment to get an advantage in battles. With the ability to overturn the walls, jump over the obstacles and crush the opponents’ face with bikes, Lost Judgment really has the biggest fight in a Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio game.
Located in small but dense areas, Lost Judgment is full of activities. You can go to arcades to play games like Virtua Fighter 5 and Space Harrier or develop the last Yagami Bot in a robotics club. Drone races with casinos and golf boxing, it is easy to get lost in this wonderful world. Traversing also had a significant upgrade. While you can always sprint or take a taxi to the desired location, you can now just get on a roller board and browse the streets. With collectibles scattered everywhere, getting around the lively city is now much more pleasant.
The characters and the world they live in are very detailed. Each garment has been faithfully recreated to reproduce the texture of the article and even the sewing patterns, adding authenticity to the incredible models of characters. Animated by the fantastic actors of the voice, each personality is distinct with manners and individual features. For this reason, the people with whom you interact look and act in a real way, which contributes to creating significant ties. The environment is also much more congested, bringing to life to the streets of Tokyo.
Lost Judgment is a brilliant detective novel that explores controversial subjects to express a clear message on social problems. Although it may be that it may evoke painful childhood memories, the attentive narration and the satisfactory conclusions of the stories make them easier to digest. Although the structure of the game closely follows the path drawn by its predecessors, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has refined and developed its conventions to create one of their best versions to date.
