PlayStation 5: Creator finds VR
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, the PlayStation Creator Kenagari has given some interesting information about its attitude to VR and the much praised metaver. Kutagari was one of the leading heads behind Sonys Playstations 1, 2 and 3, but is now CEO of the Tokyus-based robotics company Ascent Robotics.
Kutagari said that he does not like VR technology at the moment, since the headsets are too cloggy, which makes the whole thing quite annoying. Likewise, the fact that you completely isolate the user from the real world disturbs it.
“Headsets would isolate one of the real world, and I can not well well,” he said. “Headsets are just annoying.”
In opposite the metaverse, Kutagari also refuses because the existence in this virtual world in his opinion does not really make sense. He also talks about being very similar to the anonymous messageboard sites, where users can hide their true personality behind username.
“To be in the real world is very important, but in metaverse, it’s about being quasi-real in the virtual world, and I see no point in it. That’s basically nothing but anonymous messageboard pages. “
